Being able to give back to those
that are less fortunate than you are is always a great feeling, but when you
can involve people from all the around the world to get behind you and back up
what you are trying to do it can become a movement. A couple companies so far
that have been able to do that are called TOMS and Susan G. Komen. A company
that I ran across is called Warby Parker. They are a buy one give one company
also known as a social good company. It is the kind of company whose entire
background is built around charity and giving back to those less fortunate who
are in dire need. This company’s product is glasses, not just any glasses but
stylish and affordable glasses. With most eyewear companies they like to charge
an arm and a leg or at least it feels as though you have to sell your body
parts just to cover the cost because the prices are so high. And get this when
you buy a pair of glasses they will then give a pair of glasses, a free eye
exam or corrective surgery to someone in another country who doesn’t have the
proper health care to cover these items, “Almost one billion people worldwide
lack access to glasses. This means that 15% of the global population cannot
effectively learn or work” http://www.warbyparker.com/our-story/
. I definitely see this company doing a lot of great things to help people. For
myself I wear corrective contact lenses and glasses and if I had not the proper
health care to provide me with these essential items to be able to drive, go to
work, and go to school I don’t know where I’d be.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games
In the last few years there have
been several products out there that have started to lose a lot of money and
decline. One in particular being video game consoles. Some would like to say it
has something to do with the recession and maybe it does or doesn’t, but many
researchers myself included believe, no not believe, we know that it has
something to do with it being the same old stuffy consoles being sold. They have
been the same ones for the last three to six years with no new innovative
products or ideas to get the people excited “The lack of new home consoles
didn’t have the same consumer demand they had in 2010” http://www.zeldainformer.com/search/results/08e05ca6782460685500e373b083143a/
. You would think that with all the video gamers there are out there and the
constant new games being put out that people would want to buy the hardware to
play them on but that is just it if they already have one why would they go out
and buy another. The video games themselves are exciting because they are new
and different than the previous new game maybe same concept but with new
features which makes them want it even more. These video game console companies
like Microsoft, Nintendo, and PlayStation need now more than ever to come up
with these new innovative ideas that will enhance their products and get the
people excited again to drive in the sales that they need to keep their numbers
high and the money rolling in, but until they do that they can and will expect
to see a continuing decline in sales and profit in their products.
Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service
What is customer service? Customer
service is that of providing people with a positive, helpful experience before,
during or after buying something. I believe that you have to create a
relationship with the individual to be able to draw them in to be able to sell
something to them. There are seven guidelines to follow with tweaks here and
there depending on the company and service you are providing, but these would
mainly be used in face to face interaction with the customer. First and
foremost you want to create a great first impression with the customer meaning
greet them properly and always have a smile on your face. This helps to make
them feel welcome and that they have entered a friendly yet helpful environment.
Following this is to look and listen to the customers’ wants and needs. If you
are doing a lot of talking and not listening to them you will not be able to
provide the customer properly and then you might have an unsatisfied client. To
inspire the customer is to get them excited about the product they are looking
for or what you found that is comparable to that. It makes them feel like they
have found something special and then creates a great experience, they will
feel like you really understand them and want to shop with you over and over
again. That is what customer service is all about is client retention. You will
also want to engage with them find out a few personal details and even share a
few with them, it helps the customer to relax and feel at ease. A company like
Zappos understands all of this, they believe you have to “Build open and honest
relationships with communication” to “Create fun and a little weirdness.” Value
number one: “Deliver WOW through service!” . At this point you will go right in
and nail the sale; you have pretty much got it in the bag. Once you have
finished the transaction you always want to thank them and invite them back to
shop with you. When using all these tools together it creates an experience like
no other for the customer and for me I’ve received several praise and good
reviews from my clients even hugs and it makes me feel good to know that I have
made it special for them.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice
As a hair, make-up, and fashion stylist I have to keep my clients on the cutting edge of all the latest trends. It's fun and exciting as well as challenging sometimes, but it truly is my passion. I've styled clients for various events such as photo shoots and fashion shows as well as my everyday clients. Behind the scenes things can get a little crazy and overwhelming and its very fast paced, but the reward at the end to see your work come to life on print or walking down the runway is so gratifying and it makes it all worth it. I've worked extremely hard to get where I am today in my career and I can't wait to see where the rest of this road leads to.
