Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

In the last few years there have been several products out there that have started to lose a lot of money and decline. One in particular being video game consoles. Some would like to say it has something to do with the recession and maybe it does or doesn’t, but many researchers myself included believe, no not believe, we know that it has something to do with it being the same old stuffy consoles being sold. They have been the same ones for the last three to six years with no new innovative products or ideas to get the people excited “The lack of new home consoles didn’t have the same consumer demand they had in 2010” http://www.zeldainformer.com/search/results/08e05ca6782460685500e373b083143a/ . You would think that with all the video gamers there are out there and the constant new games being put out that people would want to buy the hardware to play them on but that is just it if they already have one why would they go out and buy another. The video games themselves are exciting because they are new and different than the previous new game maybe same concept but with new features which makes them want it even more. These video game console companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, and PlayStation need now more than ever to come up with these new innovative ideas that will enhance their products and get the people excited again to drive in the sales that they need to keep their numbers high and the money rolling in, but until they do that they can and will expect to see a continuing decline in sales and profit in their products.
